So you have a K&N Airfilter and
you wanna help it breathe a little easier? Check this out.
Warning: If you do not have a K&N
Airfilter- DO NOT TRY THIS on your stock filter
What's Needed:
- K&N recharger, filter care service
kit (can be bought at any automotive store even Wal-Mart)
- Gloves (not needed but recommended)
- And of course your dirty K&N air filter
- Soft bristle brush
PURPOSE: To recharge air Filter. Restores
air flow efficiency so your K&N air filter performs like new.
NOTES: - Servce every 5,000-10,000
miles on street driving applications. ( i like to clean once - twice every year)
- Do not use this method on stock paper air filter, filter must be cotton -
Dry naturally, After rinsing shak off excess water so it dries quicker and let
element totaly dry, do not use hair drier, heating will cause filter to shrink
- Air filter oil is included in recharger
kit, do not use motor oil, WD-40 etc, unly use air filter oil
COST: About $20.00
TIME: About 1.5 hours
Directions:
1. PRE CLEANING - Tap the air filter supide
down on table so any larger dirt, stones, leaves etc fall out. Then gently brush
off any remainind stones, leaves etc if needed.
2. CLEANING - Keep filter upside down
and spray on K&N filter cleaner onto the entire air filter. Let cleaner
soak for 10 minutes.
3. RINSING OFF CLEANER - Turn filter upside
down and rinse off the filter with low pressure water from the tap from inside
of filter . Start from the inside (clean side to dirty side well) then rince
a bit on the outside and back on the inside again.
4. OILING - Once
the filter is dry you have to re-oil it before re-installing it into your mustang.
Spray K&N filter down into eash pleet with one pass per pleet. Wait 10 minutes
and re oil any white spots left.
