So you got your CAI and you're ready
to install or you're looking at getting one. They claim to give us about 10HP,
however, it's actually been dyno'ed to get us about 6 or 7.
Alright, this is an installation for a cheap cold air intake bought off of ebay.
However, the installation of other brands are comparable and goes as follows.
1. First you will need to disconnect the
wires connected to the mass air sensor and for the air temperature. I had to
gently twist the wires back and forth to get them off. You will also need to
remove the wiring to the mass air sensor.
2. Next, loosen the clamp holding the
intake hose to the throttle body. Then remove the one bolt holding the stock
airbox to the fender. Your entire airbox/intake hose/mass air assembly should
all come out easily now.
3. You will notice there were two grommets
in the car that were used to hold the stock air box in place. Remove the rubber
grommets from the stock airbox there should be two on the bottem and one that
you removed the screw from on the top.
4. Use the two fittings that were supplied
in the kit and push them into the two bottem rubber grommets.
5. Now take the cold air fender well piece
and attach it to the fender so it lines up with the hole in the fender.
Use the supplied screws and fasten the
bracket to the bottem rubber grommets. Also use the stock bolt and top grommet
to attach the top of the bracket to the fender well. For the top grommet make
sure the flat side is pointing toward the fender and the groove in the grommet
is between the bracket.
6. Next, disconnect the mass air assembly
from the airbox and intake hose.
Unscrew the mass air sensor from the stock
mass air assembly and attach the mass air sensor to the new tube with the gasket
using the four bolts and nuts supplied.
7. Slide the rubber sleeve over the throttle
body.
8. Then attach all the tubing using the rubber sleeves and clamps.
I had to manuver the tubing a bit to
get it all to fit right.
9. When in place install the air temperature
sensor back onto the tube into the grommet. Also connect the mass air sensor
wiring.
10. Finally, you need to crawl underneath
the fender and install the airfilter. Make sure to recheck that everything is
in place, fitting tight, and good to go.
Here are some before and after pics.

Matt (fatal8) wrote an article about his installation. (Thanks Matt)
