    Junk Yard Find

You know that time you go to the junkyard on Easter Sunday and find a 2001 Cobra but don't have time to pull the rear axle assembly, you figure it will be gone before you can go back to pull it. Then you end up at the junk yard on half price day on memorial weekend and it's still there. Picked...

    Good day at the junkyard

Went to pick n pull today because it was 1/2 price day. I ended up with a 1997 8.8 from a GT and the same car had a set of eibach lowering springs. Got out of pick n pull for $100. It was a pretty good day.

    4.2 and split port swap

I was out driving the car around tonight and didn't have the check engine light come on at all. So I decided to check and see if it had any precodes. Everything is good, no precodes at all. It currently has 7 readies and 0 not readies. So it will pass emissions when I go to take it in.

    4.2 and split port swap

https://www.injectorrx.com/fuel-injector-cleaning-and-flow-testing-service/fuel-injectors/fuel-injector-data/ford-fuel-injectors/ I found this website and was able to identify that injectors from an early 2000s Taurus 3.0 were were only 17# injectors. I pulled them at the junkyard today. So...

    4.2 and split port swap

I checked the factory injectors that came off of my single port and from what I can tell they are 17# injectors. They are a cream color. So I wonder if the 19# inje tors I have will work. I'm going to install them tonight and see if it fixes my check engine light issue.

    4.2 and split port swap

I need to pass emissions and then I don't care if the code is being thrown until I can get a tuner.

    4.2 and split port swap

Right, except I changed out the plugs to the 99-04 style. So I'll need to get a set of 14# injectors from the junkyard.

Yeah it runs really well, I am pretty sure it is just barely out of the range that computer thinks is ok for running to rich. If I'm running down the freeway at higher RPM's it will not come on. I still could have a problem with the regulator so I'm digging into that a little this weekend.

    4.2 and split port swap

I talked to SCT and Bama and Bama can build me a tune with the mods I've done. SCT told me they couldn't help me at all and I needed to have custom tuning done. So I think I'm buying a Bama tuner from American Muscle. Now I just got to get $400 together for it.

    4.2 and split port swap

I have been doing some research, and what I think I have found is the freestar injectors I installed are 21#. The 2003 f150 4.2 came with 19# injectors. The 1996 single port came with 14# injectors. I think I'll switch back to the 19# ones for now to see if I can get the car through...

    4.2 and split port swap

No I haven't got a tune for it yet, that has been in the back of my mind what is causing the problem. I've worked through a lot of the other issues that it has had. So I'll figure this out also.

    4.2 and split port swap

I've been thinking about the problem with the codes ony car all day. Once the car is warm it doesn't throw the code. I wonder if I have a bad pressure regulator.

    4.2 and split port swap

Yeah it is a weird one it only is throwing them when it is cold on start up. Maybe it has to do with the bigger injectors for the 4.2.
