    2000 V6 Mustang vibration problems

If the car's original engine mounts or transmission mounts were replaced by cheap Chinese made aftermarket mounts, this could be the source of your problems.

New engine mounts sitting in different location than old....weird

I am very interested in this thread. I have a pair of brand new Anchor motor mounts for my 98 manual that I purchased from RockAuto. I have only a very slight vibration problem at this point but I do not want to make it worse by installing these new mounts. What brand did you install? Any...

New Motor Mounts/Trans Mount ride is incredibly rough

Thanks Sam for the information My clutch is beginning to chatter too. Maybe my entire problem is with the flywheel/clutch setup? Very interesting. This is good to know.

New Motor Mounts/Trans Mount ride is incredibly rough

I have a 98 5 speed with said vibration problem. Mine had a balancing collar on the driveshaft from the factory. I took it to a drive shaft place and they told me that I could do without the collar and simply balance the drive shaft. I paid over $100 to have the driveshaft balanced. All to...

    94 convertible vibration

My 98 coupe with high mileage is now doing the same thing. It does seem like some type of harmonic resonance. I put lowering springs on and also all new Energy Suspension Bushings on both the front and rear suspensions. Not sure if that is related to the problem or not. I will change the...

Theft light blinking and crank but no start after setting in rain.

I found the problem. After replacing the CCRM control box, I tried to start it with a standard non-chipped key because I had lost my chipped key. After finding that key, it started right up. So it was the CCRM control box that was the culprit. It houses the fuel pump relay and the PCM relay...

Theft light blinking and crank but no start after setting in rain.

My 98 3.8L sat out in the rain for 2 days and afterwards will not start. At first I thought it was the pump relay located in the command control module. I replaced that module to no avail. I think that the PCM is shutting off the fuel because the pump does not prime and the dashboard theft...

    94 convertible vibration

The motor mounts should not be that hard to replace. If you can do it yourself it would not be that expensive either. I think I would give that a shot. Certainly could not hurt.

    '98 Wiper cowl replacement

The 98 cowl covers are made from cheaper plastic than the 96. If you can find one off of a junked 96 it will be a more sturdy cowl and should not cost over 35.00

    Clutch issues

I have noticed this in my 98 also. Basically it occurs in reverse. I installed a clutch about 20K ago. Did not resurface the flywheel.

98 3.8 5spd will not idle and runs rough

I should update this thread as it might help someone who is chasing P0171 and P0174 lean codes. The one vacuum line that I failed to check and that turned out to be a culprit was the hose running from the PCV valve into the intake tube. It was leaking like a sieve and causing a lean condition.

98 3.8 5spd will not idle and runs rough

New EGR valve did not solve the problem. I have checked the vacuum lines and cannot find any leaks. Could a malfunctioning DPFE cause my symptoms? Thanks

98 3.8 5spd will not idle and runs rough

Thank you Brn2run. I have no egr codes but I think they only get set if no egr flow is detected. If egr is stuck open, it acts as a vacuum leak. I have replaced most of the vacuum lines with new tubing. I don't recall a vacuum connection below the throttle body. Are you sure a 98 v6 has a...

98 3.8 5spd will not idle and runs rough

Update: New coil pack did not correct problem. I now believe it is the EGR valve. I have a new one on the way. Any comments?

98 3.8 5spd will not idle and runs rough

Just finished testing the resistance of the coil pack. The primary resistance was 1.3 Ohms on all three coils. Chiltons says they should be below 1.0 Ohms. Secondary resistance was also out of spec. All three measured at 13,000 Ohms with spec at 11,500 max. I think I have found my problem.

98 3.8 5spd will not idle and runs rough

I have a 98 V6 5 speed Mustang with 200K. It will not idle and when you force it to run it runs very rough. I put a new IAC on it with no change. It loses fuel pressure as soon as it is shut off. Since it seemed to be a fuel supply problem, I put a new fuel pump on it. I replaced only the pump...

    Introduction

Hi, I am a newbie with a 98 that I purchased new many years ago. My daughter drove it for the last 100k. It now has 200K and I would like to bring it back to life. I will need some information from the experts here. I am getting a cam position sensor code PO340. Running rough and stalling...
