Jerry and I had an 05 V6 auto on the dyno at Dyno Dave's last week. While there was some dyno development work that went into the SCT 05 calibration....there was never a back to back test done.

The car had about 4k on it. It had dual exhaust already. We used pump premium fuel.

    Base power was 178rwhp and 205 ft/lbs.
    After tune was 187rwhp and 215 ft/lbs.

While a gain of 9rwhp and 10ft/lbs may not seem like much the gains in mid-range were more impressive. There are places where the car picked up 15rwhp and 15 ft/lbs. Thats very noticeable. Average gains were about 12rwhp and 13 ft/lbs.

The car felt a ton better after as well with the higher shift points, firmer shifts, reduced torque truncation and of course the power.

Damn. Thats pretty good  . 178rwhp for a stock auto is pretty good. Hell, I probably don't even have that much rwhp and I have all the bolt-ons. I bet the 05' auto could get to the 200rwhp mark with just a SCT chip, dual exhaust, CAI, and UDP.

    That is quite impressive.

I have UDP, CAI and duals and I know my 00 auto does not have those numbers. BTW, does the tune ease out the problems reported with acceleration and the throttle-by-wire?

He had a pretty nice custom H-pipe, custom tails with some Flowmaster muffler. Sounded OK.

How does the 4.0 sound compared to a similar Essex setup?

Cool... Pete, was this the before (w/o) and after (with) runs with the chip you all sell for the 4.0L?

Yes that was stock with dual exhaust and then with the sct running 93 program. I am not sure how much exhaust usually adds but i wouldn't think duals make that big of a difference yet. Now you get into the upper hp range i am sure the duals are needed and i may be wrong but thats my understanding. Actually i was told doing "a full exhaust without any other mods would hurt the car more than help it do to the decrease in back pressure" per lonestar performance in Dallas back when i had my 95 GT thats why i put 3.73's in before i did anything else. Anyway the cai makes almost as big of difference as the chip itself. Hopefully i'll get to the dyno maybe by the end of march gotta figure out where to go and want to get the gears in first.

I just reflashed mine, on the 87 octane program for now. I noticed added power, and better shifting, only got a short ride though. Can't wait to try out the 93 octane program...i'll have to find a place that sells it though. The Chevron I go to now has 91 at best...ill just have to check out the local pumps. I actually managed to spin the rear wheels when it was dry. :D I'll have to be more careful when its wet...cant wait to try out the 93. ;) Thanks Pete!
