I was browsing the forums at svtperformance and they've stumbled across this threat from a GM site that has people "in the know" about these things. Apparently, the new engine will be the 5.4L that's used in the Ford GTs but won't be supercharged. The new cobra will be 200-300 pounds less than the current one and will pack 400-450 horsepower naturally aspirated.

Hmm... so this is the reason why I'm not spending all this money modding my V6

Uhh... The point of my post was to give a valid option, not tell you what it's going to be.

What are you talking about? I'm just relaying some rumors. If you have a problem with that then you don't belong in a section that's all about new model Mustangs. If you're saying I shouldn't rely on this info to not mod my V6 and wait for this, I've heard many people who went from the V6 to a GT say that it was pointless to mod their V6's. Some of the V6's in this forum are really awesome but other people spend thousands and only get 20 hp. Whatever the specs are of the new Cobra, they're going to be 400+.

    Chill.

With that logic why not buy an 04 Cobra? They are a great buy since they have a rebate, are underrated at 390HP and make great power with $1k in mods...

My only point was that the info in that post is wrong.

I'd speculate that Ford has a great deal on leasing 04 cobras

to get yourself a place in line when the new cobras come out in a few years.

If that new cobra doesn't blow away the old one, why would people

trade their car in for it? IMO 400-450 hp with no blower will not be worth
trading in a car with similar if not greater power than 400-450.

I really expect 450-500 to be closer. but I still haven't seen **** on them,
plus the lightning has to reclaim the "baddest truck in the world" category,
so you know thats gotta be over 500. **patiently waiting for 07**

should be a great year for SVT
