The 05 auto would be a little faster.

Ford isn't going to go backwards in performance. Sometimes car makers have made a new car that wasn't as good as the previous model, but I think those days are over.
The new stangs have better suspension systems, smoother motors, stiffer chassis, and better auto trannies. IDK though, I'm keeping my car. Install H/C/I on your car and, with a good tune, you'll be faster then the new ones.

From everything I've read, the 05-06 V6 and auto GT's have 3.31, while manual GTs have 3.55

The 05's are quite impressive in stock form in comparison to their pre05 counterparts. And both the 4.0 and 3v 4.6 are responding nicely to modfications.

Do the 05 v6's come with a factory installed LSD?

Heads/Cam/Intake... you port and polish all that stuff and get a good cam that works with your set up, it will really increase your power. I hope to finally get that in a couple months so i can stop being so damn depressed about how sweet the 05 felt when i drove it haha

Actually the only '05 with 3.55 gears is the GT 5 speed manual, all the others have 3.31 rear gears. And you will need a lot to beat them, my '04 with all its mods[3.9 with exhaust, pullies, intake, 3.73s, t-lok and x-cal flash] could barely do the job on a stock 4.0L 5 speed. But now........BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

    I have a 2001 v6 5-speed with 48,000 miles,Cold Air Intake, and catback exhaust
    My friend has a 2006 V6 mustang 5-speed stock

From a stop i keep up pretty good till 3rd gear then he just keeps pulling away

From a 35 mph 2nd gear roll i take him by about half a car then we shift into third and by about 4500-5000 rpms that 06 just takes me hard.:wtf:

3rd Gear 50mph roll...He wins at the top end by 110mph

The third gear is stronger in the newer v6's:mad:

3rd gear is a ****ing blast lol. There is enough power and enough speed to have a lot of fun and be pretty stupid with the car. If your willing to wind out the car enough, you can hit 100 in 3rd.

my mom actually ended up trading in my v6 (with my 4.10s and 8.8 still on it heh) and giving me her 04 gt...

she got an 05 convertible auto, and i must say the new transmission and really brings the car to life.

I enjoy driving around in her v6 even sometimes, especially with the rag top down if I'm driving around with a girl they love that crap

A huge upgrade over the way my 5 speed v6 03 felt.

I've dusted an 05' V6 and all I have done to my car(01' auto) is a drop in K&N filter, a full cat-back exhaust, and some weight reduction. heh, I can hit 112 in 3rd.

Perhaps he had a manual and didn't know how to drive worth a damn, but at any rate, congrats!
