I just watched an 05 or 06, I'm not sure which one, but it ran a 14.7 with a few mods, looked good and sounded good.

Congrats, but hard to believe. I traded in a 00 3.8 auto with 70k miles, with eBay Cai, and exhaust--and it was nowhere near as quick as the 05 I just picked up. Nowhere near.

My best time is a 14.705... I believe there's 14.6's in 'er still. There are 2 other NA 05+ V6's faster that I know of... one in the 14.6's and a manual in the 14.5's.

I beat my friends. Twice. And I had a passenger. It was that exact match up btw. I was in the 04.

Sorry, either he was a bad driver, or something broke. The S-197's have more HP, more TQ, and a higher gear ratio. There is no way that you beat him unless something was wrong with his car, especially with a passenger.

The biggest problem with the 05 - 06 mustangs is they are heavy bastards. I rented a GT a couple of months ago and my friend with a basically stock GT with only a CAI and dual exhaust stayed with me. I got a couple of car lengths on him from the start and never gained or lost distance. I would imagine a stock auto 05-06 V6 would have a difficult time with a 99-04 V6 with gears and bolt ons.

Yeah, and early 90s GT would have trouble with me with gears and bolt ons. That guy said stock vs stock, no way.

No, he was in an 05 automatic. We raced from ~5mph roll to about 80-90. Theres no skill involved here. Torque doesnt matter, its just part of the formula used to derive HP which is what really matters, plus hes in a heavier car, with an auto tranny, with more parasitic loss.
I definatly beat him. Twice. Three people saw it and they all agreed. Its pretty simple really. And yes, we were both 100% stock.

Yes torque matters, torque is actual power, HP is an abstract concept based on TQ and RPM. And, you also said "It was that exact match up btw" which you are now saying it wasnt. Were you in an auto or manual? if you had an manual and he had the auto, he still had 10 more horses than you to the ground, but the extra 100 lbs hurt him. Was he in a vert? because thats another 150 lbs.

There is not much to hurt him with the new auto's.

You would be hard pressed to find anyone that can row a manual as fast as the new 5 speed auto's shift, and with a tune on that trans....

    and you lost????

Something is wrong with that picture.

    I ran a 1.84 60ft running an 8.8 @ 84MPH in the 1/8th bone flipping stock. I don't know of many pre 05 GT's running that.

You evidently did not read my prior post. No I did not lose. I got the jump on him and put a couple of car lengths on him and then he stuck there. I neither put any more distance on him nor did he gain on me.

When i just had my K&N FIPK and pulley, i ran a stock 06 auto V6, From a dead stop we stayed dead even until i hit 3rd thats when he just pulled 1 1/2 cars by the time we governed out, from a roll he just walked me to about the same amount. I dont think it will take much more to beat a stock one.
