I raced a 2005 automatic v6 with JUST intake spacer with my 2003 5 speed manual 3.8 with exhaust, intake, short shifter. I pulled him like 2 cars off the line, 70+ he OWNED me. the new 4.0 and the new 5 speed automatic transmission together make a formidable challenge for even older GT's

my dad rented a '05 (auto) for a business trip and we took it out (me driving) and it was slow compared to my stock 03 5 speed. I had heard they are definitely supposed to be faster but it seemed slow.not responsive at all. I bet the 5 speeds are better...and maybe like ^^ he said when is gets up to speed it would prob beat me though

doubt that you were driving stick in 1962 haha

I learned how to drive stick before i ever drove a car.

But yeah id definently take the time to learn to drive stick before i bought an automatic.

No I was born in 1960 so you are correct I was driving a stick in 1972 and had stick on almost all my cars and trucks until 1997. I really enjoy my Hi performance auto now.

Auto = good for bracket racing. Other than that, I think I would still prefer a stick.

    About 15.

 i raced a 06 v6 mustang, i think it was an auto, from a roll 3 times on the highway and hung w/ him dead even 2 of the runs and the 3rd i pulled just enough to say i was ahead. and he was the one doing the 3-2-1-go not me. although i might have jumped all three times so my reation to the go was the same if not a tiny bit better then the other guy  (but it wasnt like i went b4 him, just at the same time)

first 2 was 40-top of 3rd (ended when i would have shifted and he would have pulled but he stopped not me?)

then the 3rd, we started a lil faster maybe like 70ish and got a small lead and he pulled even w/ me till the top of my 4th.

i didnt have a spare/jack, and i dont remeber but that might have been when my passanger seat was out

you can't really "learn" stick until you actually drive something with it

maybe you learned the concepts behind it, but that doesn't mean anything

O maybe i learned to drive a manual 4-wheeler before i learned to drive a car?

i specifically said "i learned to drive stick before i learned to drive a car", not before i learned to drive something with it.
