I've seen a lot asked about this lately, so here's a nice article with a list of everything you need, and some decent instructions on how to go about the swap.
the average mechanic can do this if you have the confidence. best thing is to just take one thing at a time.

here's a list of parts you'll need(it's on the site, but i'll make this part that much easier for the lazy people to see:).
    Parts Needed:

    T5 from a 94-95 sn95 (World Class)
    Bellhousing (From SN95)
    Bellhousing Bolts
    Bellhousing dowel pins
    Pressure Plate
    Pressure Plate Bolts
T5 Flywheel (FRPP Billet Steel )
    Flywheel Bolts
    Pilot Bearing
    TO Bearing
    Clutch (HD FRPP)
    Clutch Dust shield
28 Spline T5 Driveshaft Yoke (connects to T5 output shaft)
    Pedal assembly
T5 Driveshaft (FRPP Alum in a few weeks)
    AODE X member
    T5 Shifter bezel with boot
    T5 dust boot
    Clutch cable and Quadrant
Steel Bearing Retainer (is T5 has the Alum weak one, recommended)

Here's the rest of the info..

    hope it helps,

Hey -gr8 info... i'm doing this swap on a 2001 v6. although I don't have problem with the mechanical portion of the swap I'm curious how complicated or tricky the tranny to main engine wire harness was or if you even swapped out the computer ????

If you contact Greg at stangparts.com he can help you with the information. I have a 95 stang in Okinawa, Japan and for all the parts except the shifter and tranny it's $ 900.00 for my stang.

what aftermarket flywheels can you use on a 01? Don't 232's share the same flywheels as the 302's?

how much power is lost in the auto versus the manual. Is it really worth all of the hassel? I was thinking about trying to do this to my car and i wanted to know how much of a gain will i be getting. And about how long will it take just as an estimate?

Most 5 speed swap kits sell for around $750 complete. The 99 up 5 speed swap kits are generally around $900. Not a difficult install. Takes about a full day for a mechanic or a weekend for a novice. You will need to change the wiring harness that sits on top of the transmission. You will also need to change to a 5 speed computer.

So is that all that you would need to change? And how much power will I be expecting to gain over my auto?

About 10hp to the wheels. You can shift at will, and I believe its about 100lbs lighter. But I still dont know how much each trannie weighs.

    It's actually about a 15-20rwhp gain on a 99+.

I have an 04 Auto 3.9L V6 with 7,000 miles. Is it worth the time and money to convert an Auto to a Manual? And can you sell your old auto trans for enough money to cover the expenses to convert it to a Standard Shift?

Just wondering where you found the 5 speed swap kit for around $750. Most kits that I'm looking at are around $1200-$1400. Id rather spend 750 if I could.

Or, you can just install the 5 speed computer that would come in the conversion kit.

Yes, you will need a chip if you change gears. We do have the conversion kit available. You can email us at [email protected]. We were in North Carolina last weekend at RCR.
