    Nice find Travis.

But, what can we conclude from that article ?

Wait and see what ford comes up with for 2012 ?

I was just about to look in to getting a 2011 GT...

    Edit:

Subscribed ! ...I want to hear what the tech guys have to say about this.

You can conclude that there will always be something better if you wait.

There is a bit of a difference between waiting for something better (say in 2000 to 2005) vs. having a good idea that a 30hp jump will come, at the same price point, in 1-2 years.

But there's no guarantee it will, nor is there a guarantee it will be the same price.

Like every other purchase decision you make, there will almost certainly be something better later. Is the difference between 400 and 430hp worth putting off a car purchase for up to three years? I'd bet for most people the answer is no.

This holds more true for certain model year jumps than others. You know very well you'd call someone a bloody idiot if they uttered those words about waiting for 2011 instead of buying a 2010.

The engineers flat out said they built the car for DI but haven't implemented it yet because of cost constraints for the new engine.

From the expansive March, 2010 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords article about the Coyote:

Look at the angle the injector has to the cylinder right now:

That's basically a straight shot, giving most of the advantages of DI with none of the cost.

Buy a 2011. It's a fantastic vehicle in every way possible.

Disagree. Direct port atomizes better. and does not have to worry about flowing past the valve. Your direct shot theory is out the window.

Let's just say that I heard this back when we were doing R&D on that motor over a year ago. Now as to if it'll ever be used....well, that's up to Ford at this point. ;)

    Most certainly.

Waiting a model year on a completely confirmed jump to an all new engine with a major jump in horsepower is a whole lot different than holding off on a purchase for an indefinite period for the promise of a single-digit percentage gain in output.

IMO you're a fool if you didn't wait for 2011, but you're equally a fool if you're waiting for 2013+ based on this evidence.
