At almost 12K miles, mine has yet to see 80 mph. I suppose I'm safe...

If you have not even gotten it to 80 then why did you buy a Mustang. You buy a Mustang to have a little fun. You don't want to be getting passed by all those Toyota drivers now do you?

The fastest Ive gone is 80 something at the track. No reason to go that fast on the street.

I enjoy the ride, the handling, the leather smell, the sync and knowing that I'm driving a sharp looking machine. It makes me feel good and alive. I don't get my rocks off on speed. That's just me... ;)

Sorry if I sounded crude here! This is a family forum isn't it? Raw speed does nothing for me except make me nervous. Now getting to a blazing speed of 0-60 in 5 seconds does get the heart rate up!! There's no fun after that!

I test drove a 2012 V6 yesterday. I took it on a route to include a brief interstate run. As usual in this area merging is a challenge unless you are willing to put your foot on the pedal, so I did and before I got to the end of the short ramp i was already at 90 mph. I was very impressed at how fast this engine will take off. That's the impressive aspect of owning a Mustang. after the take-off no one left standing there is going to see you get a ticket for doing 80+.

    And yes I bought it.

I just got a 2012 V6 two days ago and to find out this 305hp engine is limited to just 118mph and that if I remove the limiter my drive shaft may fail WHAT THE HELL! This is a little disheartening to me, I'm surrounded by nice long bridges and I like to having nice long pulls on them but the 3.7 hits 118 in no time. In fact early today I was coming home across a bridge when a RS Camaro came along, so we had a little V6 race but then my car stop accelerating! I though my car had shut down or something, then get I home and read this. Don't get me wrong this car has done nothing but impress me, 118mph limiter just seems below it.

You really don't need to be doing 100+ mph on public roads either. Just saying.

What 'briges?' The Howard Franklin? Gandy? Sunshine?

All of those are generally extremely congested. It sounds like you need your governer set to about 80.

You missed one, Bayside bridge.. I drive across it almost every day and even in the middle of the day I find myself all alone. I don't like speeding around other motorist for too many reasons to list. Look I'm sorry that I do not always obey the laws, but if you have NEVER gone over speed limit good for you.

I am thinking about putting the Mustang 3.7V6 in my off road Ranger. I rented one from Hertz and was very impressed. I am having trouble finding the exterior demensions of the motor. I need very accurate measurements of the width, outside exhaust manifold to outside exhaust manifold, the length, from the pulleys to the trans, and the height, from the deepest part of the oil pan to the top of the motor. If you could measure your motor, that would be of great help to me.

Thanks, Gary You can email me at [email protected] or call me at 623-205-617

I've read this story on another late model Mustang site; same responses. I see no reason why I should worry about my driveshaft in my 2011 busting at speeds of 135 MPH. Stupid to know of folks that would drive at this speed on public roads.

At a track? Then it's perfectly fine. Get the updated driveshaft and have fun. This way, your not putting others at high risk driving at such speeds.
