I'm looking for a cat back exhaust that will enhance the sound of my 04 convertible. Not really looking for performance upgrade, just a better sound. Anyone use any of the inexpensive systems available on ebay? I'm a little lost and overwhelmed looking at all the info online. I have a cold air intake and everythimg else is stock. Please help!

I posted this on another guy's thread, but I went with Magnaflow Competitions and K+N CAI, sounds not bad. Idk if you can find that on ebay, but cost about $400 including install on west coast for the exhaust.

just bought and installed a mac v6 system on my son's 04 v6. definitely happy with it. when you get a system, definitely buy the pypes hangar kit to install it with. perfect setup.

I have a Summit Catback on my car. Nice mellow sound... much better than stock but not loud. It's a good deal for $229.97. Its been on my car for 7 years with zero problems.

You'll want to buy some stainless steel angled exhaust tips for this catback if you buy it so figure that into the price.

Sorry for the bad link. Hopefully corrected it. The Summit cat-back dual system is actually made by Heart Throb. The only change I made was replaced all the clamps with 3/8"HD clamps.

Yeah. That's about what mine sounds like. Its really sounds good at around 2,500 rpms but not a super loud v6 riceburner sound.

I know this is an old thread. But I need to ask this question. I have the Jeg's exhaust that is very similar to Summit, Parts made by Heartthrob. The thing I'm looking to do is relocate the passenger side tail pipe clamp. I see the driver side tail pipe hanger is attached to the two bolts for the gas tank. I see one on the passenger side I could use. I am wondering if anyone has done this with these kits. I want to put longer exhaust tips on. Thanks

The longer exhaust tips would look sweet. Good idea. I think any muffler shop could help you out fairly cheap.

Yes that's what I figured to do, Long tips and go to a muffler shop. I searched first and looked at a lot of videos first just in case. I found these on ebay but they are for a 1994 Cobra. I was trying to see about how to make this work. Not sure about the hanger locations. I'm sure I'd have to make some modifications probably. 3 Inch Diameter Stainless Steel Exhaust Tips | eBay

Check with your muffler shop first. They maybe able to give you a really good deal... especially if they are the ones installing them. My stainless tips came from the muffler shop at a great price... now you have got me thinking about longer tips (which would look really cool)... kinda like the old LX F-Bodys... I loved how those long tips looked sticking out from under those cars. I just wish my 3.8 would sound like a 5.0 LX fox body! I've been thinking about putting in a pushrod 5.0 with a carburetor... I think about a lot of things though lol... I know we can make the 3.8's hp go way up but they never sound like v8's. If someone can let me know how to make the 3.8 sound like a v8 please let me know! :)

Some people on Youtube claim they've come close to a V8 sound. They sounded good to me but to someone else maybe different. Lol Thanks for mentioning that about asking the muffler shop about tips and a deal. Good thinking. Yes those old LX's do look good like that. Hey go for it experiment with the pushrod 5.0.. Ah the days of rebuilding carburetors. What I like about my car is it reminds me a little of the old cars I had years ago. I can still work on it pretty much.

If you ever hear a good one on youtube pass along the link to me. I have never heard a V6 sound I really liked but you never know what tomorrow will bring.lol If I could make mine sound like a v8 I would be happy and would dismiss the pushrod 5.0 idea completely. These 3.8's are easy to work on... I really like them... if I could get the v8 sound from the 3.8 I would be driving the perfect car back and forth to work (in my opinion).lol

I've not purchased from them before but thanks for the link. I usually purchase from rockauto, american muscle, cj pony and summit. Late Model Restoration has some hard to get things too.
