Was cruising down the interstate in my 5 series and a tire goes flying up and lands straight in my front bumper, cracked it, zipped under the car, tore off BOTH fender liners, the underbody splash panel and all of the other underbody paneling back to the driveshaft!

:uhh: Seriously, WTF. Hopefully comprehensive covers it since it was flying debris.

Added it up, was almost $500 of JUST body lining, not even including the bumper + paint. I had to jack the car up and cut away all the broken bits to even get the car to roll without dragging plastic behind it.

Your comprehesive insurance should cover the damage. I hope you have full coverage.

Don't have full coverage, only comp. Got the car for so cheap made no sense to put collision on.

It'll be down to how the insurance company classifies it. If they say it was a hazzard on the road that you failed to avoid, you won't get a dime. If they say it was something that came off another vehicle, and can call it a hit and run, you'll get money (although you might have needed a police report for that).

Waiting on adjuster to call me, but dropped it off at the body shop this morning. They said they are going to put an M5 bumper on it. Eh, not my favorite thing in the world but it will work. I guess it does look better than a regular 5 bumper. Body man said should be no problems getting it filed under comp since it was flying debris.

Something similar happened to me..only it was a FREAKING CHROME BUMPER. Switching lanes out from behind a truck and saw a bumper flipping end over end - no time to do anything but run over it. Thankfully, I was in my Ford Ranger so no damage was done. But, had I been in my mustang, obviously would have been a different story.
