I think it is about time I made a thread on this. I am a long time fan of the source book and have been following the show since HBO bought the rights to make it. The best way I can describe the show is that it is the next Rome for HBO. A modern drama with a very unmodern setting. The series premiers in April. This is the first full trailer.

    Looks pretty good.

Did you watch The Pillars of the Earth?

Looks good. I've always thought Sean Bean is "perfect" in medieval type of roles.

Pretty excited for this and Camelot as well.

Camelot could be a flop but I'll give it a shot

I am very excited for this show. I am an avid fan of the books, and hope HBO does as good a job with the series as they have with others in the past. I just wished good ole' George would get off his ass and finish the 5th book already.

I have been waiting for the fifth book since the fourth came out too. Martin needs to get a move-on already.

That's funny. I entered a charity raffle today for $30 to win a fully restored 1965 Corvette with matching numbers and full documentation. The drawing is Sunday, July 10. At this time, I would be less surprised if I win the 'vette than I will if I can buy George's book two days later.

New trailer this week. I have no doubt that HBO will deliver on the show's potential.

If they stick with the story, the Fire & Ice series beats, kills, and buries LotR, then leaves it for the crows to eat.

Not really a good comparison, IMO. LOTR has elves and wizard with less blood and sex.

For the few people interested, HBO previewed the beginning of the first episode today. Video can be found here.

Bump for the first episode. The early reviews are good. If you have HBO, consider watching.

Politics, sex, and war in a medieval-like setting.

I'm about 2/3 through the first book and it's quite good. Looking forward to giving the series a shot.

HBO is having a free preview weekend, so you might be able to see the first episode. Also, I could not recommend the books highly enough.
