What is the best way to deal with corrosion on the hood my 2005 convertible. Is a fiberglass hood a good option?

Hello there, just purchased a 2006 coupe and have corrosion to the underside of the bonnet (hood).

This is a known problem and design flaw and can be an unsightly and expensive problem to repair. Short of fibreglass option which is very costly, i am going to see if i can get the corrosion removed on mine and have a rust proof treatment applied to the underside. Likely this will have to be done annually and will look a little unsightly however, its not visible unless you pop the hood and may be a way of keeping the worst of the corrosion at bay (slow it down) and prevent it eating through to the top surface. The car is going to a pro rust proof company in the UK so will see if this is an option. I'm certainly going down this route for now but a shame Ford has not done a better job. My old Lexus car was much older and far better condition than this Mustang bodywork wise so not the best in my opinion and a shame as a Love the shape and drive of the Mustang. Shame on Ford. Its a common problem to pretty much all of this variant. Just look at other users on the net. They all share the same disappointment with the manufacturer as we all have the same problem.
