Ported Heads / Intakes, a cam and some sort of forced induction (turbo / supercharger) will get you there. Look to spend 5-6k if you go the turbo route. You could always go the nitrous route too, that would be a bit cheaper.

If you're on a budget, I'd go with a split port swap (do a search, it consists of swapping to the 99+ heads and intakes) which can be done for about $500, maybe even less. And then a supercharger, theres a vortech for sale over on v6p for 1300. Its real tempting, if I didnt have my heart set on a turbo, it would be mine for sure, since I have more then enough for it sitting here. Don't forget about fuel upgrades and a tune though. Expect to spend another $1000 on those (fuel pump/injectors/xcal2+wideband or dynotune (most important, you dont wan't to have to buy a new motor, do you?)).

    Good luck

Without a Supercharger / Turbo how much could I get? I have guys that are telling me to just swap my engine out with a V8. But I don't want to do all that work or replace a bunch of stuff.

I was looking at getting Hooker Headers, Flowmaster Force II Catback w/50 Series Delta Flow Muffler, Mustang V6 Cold Air Intake Kit, and a MSD WIRE SET: MUSTANG 3.8L V6. How much HP Could I get with that?

With quite a bit of money, you can probably push 220-230 to the rear wheels (250-260 at the crank). You'd want to go with some seriously ported split port heads and intakes, milled to bump the compression ratio as well and a good cam to match. Probably would run you 2k at the least. Plus you still have to get a tune and fuel upgrades.

If the headers arent LTs, expect close to 0 gains out of those. We have really nice factory headers in 98s and earlier.
    The catback - 3-5hp
    CAI - 1-5hp
    Wires - 0hp

Those are very conservative estimates, but I wouldn't want you to spend a ton of money and be disappointed. If you get a CAI, don't spend a ton, a CAI off of ebay is going to net you the same gains as buying an expensive MAC one. If you're looking for something that you won't really gain power with, but will help you get up and go. Look into getting some gears and a t-lok. It will really wake the car up. You can knock .3-.5 off of your 1/4mile ET with some gears.

Flows sound good on our 6ers, but they probably wont be the loudest. You could try those spintechs that everyone was raving about a couple years back, those sounded pretty loud. Keep the cats, you could always go with hi-flows if you wanted, but if you take them off, you'll likely ruin the sound. I have heard a couple catless setups that I liked though, so thats not always the case.
Are you going to go with the LTs?

LTs, they will net you the most and give a different sound. You won't gain anything out of shortys.

P&P or split port swap is where you'll gain power though.

For bolt ons, go with a CAI, UDP, and some exhaust, and you could alwyas get a chip/flasher too (will really help with the auto), that total will only net you maybe 10-15hp though.

Since this thread is moving toward bolt-on mods, I'm moving to the appropriate forum...

Hey, what about a 99+? What would ya need to do with that to get about 250 rwhp without a turbo or supercharger? AM, I have a y-pipe kit dual exhaust, 3.73 gears, auburn t-lok, a cai, and a SCT chip.....any other suggestions?
