I picked up a 2015 V6 Mustang on Monday, traded in my 2011 V6 Mustang. All the specs I have read regarding the 3.7L engine, including the specs from Ford, say to use 5W-20 oil, which I have done for 75,000 miles on my 2011 V6, and Ford tech specs call for that viscosity on the new 2015 engine. And yet, the Owners Manual says to use 5W-30 oil. Does anyone have any info on that discrepancy?

To my knowledge, nothing has changed regarding the 3.7L engine from 2011 and 2015.

What's your oil cap say? That might be your best bet or double check with the service manager.

My 2017 Owner's Manual recommends 5w20, as is printed on the stock filler cap.
