i read somewhere a while back that the 05 was supposed to have a true McPhearson strut setup, not like our "modified" McPhearson suspension. Anyone know anything about this?

we don't have a modified McPhearson setup anyway. the McPhearson will be what the 05 is based on

yep, true, they have a "true" McPhearson setup. 100% all the way. no more funky C/C plates on top the strut tower lol.

i thought i also read that pre 05 where classified as "modified McPhearson" since hte spring was inboard of the strut rather then on it

Correct. FOXes are a modified MacPherson strut set-up.

People forget that all struts are considered McPhearson's. Prior to struts everybody used shocks with UCA and LCAs in the front.

The 05 is a real McPhearson strut with the coil surrounding the strut

No. But SLA takes space. Thats the whole reason why struts are so popular. Easy to package especially in FWD.

Big cars like CV and GMs still have SLA.

This is why i was so set on believing our cars had a "modified McPherson" strut suspension... AZ2Kvert's site is where i read it and id belive anything he said, he is a genious. http://www.miracerros.com/mustang/t_suspension.htm

i like how i spelled McPherson wrong in the 1st post and everybody just went with it
