Found this little guy in my shower this morning. Located in middle Tennessee and I don't think I have ever run into it before.

    Murderer! :p

Yeah, whether it's "harmful" or not, I wouldn't want one crawling on me in the middle of the night or something.

    Then again, Roaches are worse.

Strange as it is, I would rather deal with roaches than those things.

Those centipedes will bite and it will hurt like a bee sting.

They will mostly grow in any damp areas, like in basements and will come to your house to feed in your kitchen. Most people will say they feed on other animals and such so don't kill them, but it is not true. They will eat vegetables and any crums in your kitchen/house. So if you keep you kitchen really clean and clean your house every once in a while, they should stop coming in the house. You can take additional measures if you live in a house with a basement, but keeping the home dry is the key after they have been killed.

The species they are referring to only eats other insects. If they go away after you clean your house, its just tracing down the food chain. The insects that DO eat the scraps go elsewhere to find food, and the centipedes that fed on those insects leave as well.

After you kill it do not leave its dead on the ground or its scent there, as the others will follow that scent and you will even find MORE centipedes :)

I hate these bastards, they are nasty.

Well I'm sure it got washed out with the shower but that is good to know. I usually left dead spiders around in my old place to let the others know what would happen to them if they stayed around. Yes I was trying to play a mind game with a bug:crazy:

That's not too bad. My wife and I were watching some cheesy horror movie before and she jumped up screaming, I'm thinking to myself "this movie isn't scary so WTF?" and then I see this bad boy running down her leg to the floor (not an actual picture of it, just very close)

Needless to say I stomped the **** out of it... that thing was ****ing creepy
