Netflix Reviews Thread

Someone in another thread came up with a 'Netflix Review Thread' so being that I can never decide what to watch when scrolling through I'll start with a couple to get the ball rolling. Reviews on 'Watch Instantly' shows/movies are preferred but it really doesn't make much of a difference either way.

Archer: 9.5/10

I generally despise animated series with a passion and being that the preview I saw on TV for this show looked like complete **** I was extremely reluctant to even give it a try after my buddy recommended it. It is absolute ****ing gold, a few minutes into the first episode I was hooked. By the end of the next day I had finished the entire first season.

It's about a group of undercover agents running around trying to protect the world but is FAR better than it sounds. After about 5 minutes into the first episode you'll have a pretty much exact idea as to what to expect from the rest of the season/show as it's all really the same type of humor in different contexts; what you see is what you get. Everyone needs to at least give it a shot. If you don't like you can come back in the thread afterwards and call me a dumb asshole.

Also, Archer's "mulatto butts" ringtone is available on Droid's marketplace. ****ing apple.

Breaking Bad: 7/10

My rating is somewhat bullshit being that I've only recently seen about 5 random episodes out of the first season so I really don't know much about the show itself the grand scheme of things.

It's about a straight-edge HS Science teacher that hooks up with one of his old students to cook/sell Meth after being diagnosed with lung cancer and left unable to pay for treatment.

Looks promising so far but I'm sure others could give a far better review than I.

Doctor Who
11/10
Pretty much the most awesome show in history. The first season is pretty excruciating to watch because the actor who plays the 9th Doctor is really creepy and awkward, but once you get to David Tennant in the second season its all good.

Torchwood
8/10
Ties in with Doctor Who but is not quite as good. Same basic action as Doctor Who but it all happens on Earth and there's a LOT more sexuality. I don't have a problem with sex in tv shows, but Torchwood goes a little too far and it got to the point where I would fast forward past all the sweat and shame just to get back to the plot. Still a good show though.

Ugly Betty
9/10
If you can appreciate a clever well-written show, then watch this. The Pilot episode is not so great (They never are) but once you get into it you notice how well the actors mesh into their roles and the show becomes its own little reality. 2nd Season is a bit different and 3rd season struggled through the writer's strike. 4th season is great but the show was cancelled so the last 6 episodes try to wrap up all the stories and bring it to a rushed ending.

Star Trek: TNG
100/10
Seriously, I creamed when I saw this was on Netflix. Took me a week to watch all 177 episodes they have on instant. Best show ever.

Hustle Everyday
Good idea, I'm always looking for movies on watch instantly that dont suck. Some good ones I've watched recently:

-momento 10/10 (awesome, but you really have to pay attention. This is a lot of work to watch)
-before the devil knows you're dead 9/10 (oddball robbery-gone-wrong movie. Some Dark humor)
-in the name of the father 8/10 (true story about a guy wrongfully convicted of terrorism. London ~1975)
-the machinist 8/10 (dark thriller with a twist ending)
-the vicious kind 7/10 (I find Adam Scott (Party Down, Parks and Rec) funny in this. Weird drama/comedy. Plus Brittany Snow is hot)
-limitless 6/10

That's a lot of free time...I've been making my way through Voyager, but got burned out and switched to watching 30Rock, which I hadn't seen before Netflix.

This deserves at least a 9. I burned through the seasons and it's a great show.
