Went to church with my wife and kids because she asked and she goes every Sunday morning without me. Not my thing but did it for her.

Then went to my in-laws for lunch and egg hunt, then went to my side of the family at 4pm for more food and another egg hunt.

Just like Thanksgiving and Christmas, good family time.

Once we have our kid I'm really wondering if my wife is going to want to start going to church. Always seems like that's a catalyst in peoples life that motivates them to go back to church. My wife used to be fairly religious, but I'm not and she's never pushed me to go to church, but hasn't been herself. Not sure if that's cause she's had a change in thoughts, or she doesn't want to pressure me into it.

I tried to get into the spirit by watching The Passion of Christ but got bored after half an hour.

Are you religious and just don't like going or you not religious at all?

Not religious at all. Never have been. My Mom and one of my sisters are. My brother is somewhat religious and my other sister and my Dad are like me.

Wife knew that going in though. The church she goes to is one of those non-denominational that has more of a band doing songs and stuff. Still doesn't interest me.

I don't know why I'm all humbug on Easter. It just bugs the **** out of me.

My mom got all goofy and weird because none of us wanted to do anything, so she insisted on having us all come over anyway for something "real low key, just potatoes and ham". But she told this to the whole damn family so everybody was there and there wasn't really anything low key about it.

We sat around outside bonding about how we got Easter ambushed and started calling it "Dead Jesus Valentine's Day".

Sounds like Life Church. My sister-in-law works for them and she is starting to drive us crazy asking us to come.

How do you feel about her indoctrinating your kids when they don't know any better?

That's what I figured. Personally I don't think I could marry someone who is religious cause I'm the complete opposite

Ya, would be a deal breaker for me. I just couldn't reconcile that logically. I mean, I could maybe get by with "yeah, sure, I'm religious, I believe in something, somewhere!", but not someone who actually... goes to church. Definitely not someone that wanted to put all that it in my kids' brain.

Some friends of mine got me and my wife to go to a Unitarian Universalist church recently. Creeped me out. I get the concept, the message, and why some people might really be drawn to it, but it still felt very "churchy" to me - hymns, sermons, blah blah blah. No thanks. Not my thing.

I do the Christmas and Easter visits. Outside of that, I get 2-3 hours to myself to mess around in the garage or yard.

So the question that comes to my mind: Hypothetically, your kids get a little older and they decide church is whack and want to stay home like Dad does.

How does that play out in your house?

Or the opposite and they become super churchy and think daddy is a sinner who is going to hell...
