i was looking at that one or the 600.........the two diff models of each too. install looks super easy. hvac coming is gonna come out and check my situation for free. if they say not to put up there, i won't. any sort of water leak would be a disaster b/c its right above my kitchen.

i wonder if i can find one of those stand alone units for a whole house that would actually take a water line to it. that would be the **** b/c i could put it in my laundry room.

I know why they put the mechanical stuff but it’s not the best for the homeowner. They don’t want to waste space that can be sold for living in as somewhere to store the mechanical stuff.

If I ever built a house, it would have a room for all of that stuff and include a drain in the floor.

This is what I have. All my stuff in one room in the basement with a drain and sump pump.

does it sound dumb to you to install a humidifier in an "unconditioned" space? pretty sure thats what they called it. my attic does get below freezing but didn't know if the humidifier could be insulated.

outside of standalone units to refill this might be my only option. thinking it might be the best too b/c i have water lines and electricity handy in my laundry room. dunno if i want a vent like that out in the open though...

Typically you want them in the ductwork leaving the furnace obviously but not sure how putting one in an unconditioned space will help anything. No circulation of air and therefore humidity unless I’m not understanding you correctly.

And they install humidifiers in attics. Shouldn’t be a problem if installed properly.
