They often have them in IT rooms. They are also common in bonus/play rooms.

Not sure what’s wrong with it though. It wouldn’t replace the upstairs existing stuff. Just supplemental.

just a big ass thing on the wall  think we'll stick to the portable option for a single room. the other room is just a workout room.

They can also be installed in the ceiling.

If I were to build a house it would have a mini split system. Have a head in each room so everyone is comfortable.

really think i should spend a couple thousand bucks on a permanent wall thing vs couple hundred on whats basically a big space heater. he already has a box fan so got something on the floor already. i'd entertain the mini split if it could be more inconspicuous. i'll get a pic of where it would go on my way out.

Stick it over the door and you would rarely notice it.

My Dad has what you’re talking about solely for when one of our A/Cs might go out as a day or two solution. It’s not quiet, bulky and ugly. Not something I’d want sitting in my room 4-5 months a year. Plus it vents through the window so need to seal that up tight.

Here is the area. Left door is attic with access to everything. I could get on top of bedroom ceilings upstairs. Left of that just bathroom, and then these two bedrooms. Ceiling above the landing area could be perfect if it were flush and just looked like a vent. Painted ceiling could make it stick out bad I guess.

edit: actually maybe to the right of that attic door towards the bottom. if its not visible at all from downstairs that would be awesome. edit: looked at dimensions on one...prob dumb to be low anyways.

We have one of those portable ones at the lake and it works good for a smaller/medium room. But like Geoff said, they're bulky, have to vent out a window, and looks pretty ugly. But for up there it's fine and someday I'll maybe do something bigger/more efficient.

I was more thinking of sticking it in a bedroom above the door.

molding everywhere  but im honestly not sure if its teh same inside the rooms. i'll look later, but we'd probably be better off doing both rooms than just one. looks like those start around 2grand. i think the work would be easy though since all my stuff is already in the attic, and you can get on top of both bedrooms up there.
