I am pretty excited, I just reserved my trek for Mount Kilimanjaro next summer. I know it is a ways a way but the slots fill up quickly. The tentative plan is a seven day trek starting from the north side of the Mountain along the Rongai Route. I am thinking of staying in Nairobi for a few days, making the drive along the country side (bus ride) to Moshi where the out fitter is located, and then head up to our starting point. This should be a two to three week trip from start to finish, I am so excited.

I know we will be going to Nairobi and going on some sort of Safari but those are all details I can work out later.

Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa measuring 19,331 above sea level.

Tanzania is here for the people that dont know geography.

I'm jealous. I think I'm the only person who doesn't got on vacations? I haven't had a week off in a long time.

Why not? Lack of funds, no time off from work/school?

I couldnt imagine not going on one big trip a year.

I will make sure that I dont do that

Get a better job? or wait until you are done with school

I figure I have to tackle every continent before I am 30, so far so good. South America was in April, been to Europe three times in the last couple of years, Africa next summer, Asia and/or Antarctica sometime after that.

I am going to keep the thread updated as the details get more solid.

Do they guides outfit you with AK-47s and RPGs or are you responsible for supplying all hardware?

    I cant wait!

I went twice while in college from money that I saved up while working in school and once after I graduated. I do IT Security for Deloitte and Touche so that helps out a lot.

It cant be much more expensive than DC

Dont be jealous of the 24-30 hours of travel time to get there :(

I have fully supported myself and lived on my own since I graduated college in May of 2008, try again

They helped me somewhat in college but that ended.

Nice! My mother went to Tanzania 2 years ago for a missionary trip on the coast, I think the town was called Pemba. She said it really is beautiful there, though she did see a lot of the poverty and did her part in helping it out.
Have fun man and be careful! I'm certainly jealous.

Funny that you say that, along one of the routes they have a ranger walk with you because of large animal incidents

Everest, eh? I hope you have a bunch of experience. I would have to do a bunch of technical climbs and have a **** ton of money before I ever attempt that one.

    You can come too
