Sometimes I enjoy driving even if it's long distances. Last year we drove to Gulf Shores, AL, about a 13 hour drive from my house, and honestly I really enjoyed the scenery through Louisiana and Mississippi and we made stops along the way. Planning on taking my mom next June, cause I know she is never going to go anywhere unless someone takes her. My daughter will be almost a year at that point and I'm going to just rent a house for the week. Should be nice and I'll have a babysitter so maybe the wife and I can go out one evening just the 2 of us.

Taking a 13 hour one way trip with children? Just no.

We did an 8 hour one way drive this summer and it wasn't too terrible but that's about as far as I'd be willing to go. (8 hours gets me to Denver or Minneapolis, meh).

Yeah I'm not sure how it will go, but a friend of mine just drove to California a couple months ago with his 6 month old and said it wasn't too bad, that's maybe a 20 hour drive.

I'm thinking her being that young won't be terrible cause someone can sit with her and entertain her about as much as they could at the house.

    Edit.

Nathan you got me curious with how far I could go in 8 hours. I wanted to see if there is a tool and there is this cool little link that analyzes roads based on average speed and your location and tells you have far you could drive. Kind of neat and might be helpful.

Yea. I am 5-6 hours from St Louis, New Orleans, Atlanta, Knoxville, Little Rock, etc.

8-10 hours from the beach or Dallas/Houston.

Do you fly out of MSP every time?

**** driving. my wife knows my limit is 2 hours one way b/c thats how far away KC and STL are. chicago is a 6 hour drive, but we can fly out of columbia so we would do that instead. it gets pricey flying out of here but the only 3 destinations are good for getting anywhere.......chicago, dallas, denver.

Yup. We fly out of Bismarck 80% of the time. Our local airport is small and has those shitty little planes that you have to get off and walk into the airport.

One day I'll have a sick camper van to drive all over
Made the drive with one of my buddies from Tally to Yellowstone a couple years ago. Also made a loop to Denver last year. It's a good time with the right people and the right vehicle.

Next time you do that stop by OKC and pick me up and we’ll hot box it the whole way. I’m good for gas money.

    A 3 and 7 year old aren't those people.

Oth, wife and I took a trip down to Fort Collins this summer and it was a good time. Took in some scenery in the black hills.

    lol 20s.

even my retired parents got sick of the camper thing. my dad restored an old streamline to make it all modern. took him about 3 years for the project, and 3 months to say this sucks  he's also a driving fool and not a flyer. that **** just is not fun.

Meh just don't drive thru mizzou and Kansas and it's not that bad. And I don't plan to live in it. Just have it to take trips occasionally. Like if I had one now I'd drive it to the beach for a night or two.

I've driven coast to coast three times. **** New Mexico (except for Carlsbad Caverns--I'd totally make that shitty drive again to go there).

Never drive thru ND, all of SD except the Black Hills, eastern Wyoming, or eastern Montana.
