Oil pressure gauge problems

New Member
So the oil pressure gauge is fluttering at idle and will cause the engine to stall from time to time. Already changed the oil pressure sensor, egr valve, dpfe sensor, cleaned out the throttle body and the egr tube and still happening. Local mechanic can't figure it out either. Any suggestions?

The gauge on most cars is a "dummy" gauge. It connects to a pressure switch that is either on or off, and thus the gauge either reads nothing or reads halfway. If the pressure switch is indeed opening and closing randomly, you are either really low on oil or the pump is going bad. Wire a multi-meter or ohm meter to the pressure switch and watch it while it is running and see if it is indeed "fluttering".
