So I bought this series when it first came out in HD-DVD format and it is absolutely stunning. It looked so good that it actually pushed both my parents and my sister/bro in law to get giant HDTV's the day after I did.

I just bought this as a gift for someone on amazon.com for 40 bucks and found it on sale here for 25! I only post this in case you guys know someone who might want this as a christmas gift. I personally think that this collection is worth well over $25. Thought I would post it up in case anyone is interested. I know a lot of stuff is on sale this time of year, but its the best price on this item that I have found. Hope someone finds this helpful! :)

Yeah, a buddy of mine had picked up his copy (with the british narrator, same as mine) for about $20. I believe mine was more around $80 or so.

I paid 25 for my original HD-dvd copy after blu ray was announced the winner. I was extremely happy with that purchase. I know people who also paid around 60-70 bucks for a copy. I figured this was a good find. I love Weaver as the narrator. Her voice is so calming, yet not boring. I love this series. I hope some of you guys take advantage. It's some really amazing footage shot in extreme high def, lol. Looks so damn amazing.

It's a great series, filled with some of the latest and greatest footage and theories. However I will say that it is a shame that despite the myriad of documentaries and books narrated and written by David Attenborough that he is still far from a house hold name even though everyone knows his voice. If you don't believe me ask someone, "Who is David Attenborough?" and they won't know until you say the British guy that narrates nearly every biology documentary on BBC including Planet Earth. To say the least The Living Planet, Life in Cold Blood, The Private Life of Plants and The Trials of Life were at least on par with Planet Earth at the time they were initially broadcasted (and that doesn't count several other notable documentaries).

In any event I'd never discourage someone from learning about the world via the scientific method, buy it!

Yeah they're really a great series of documentaries. Watched all of them and I can't find a dull moment in any of those. If anyone hasn't seen them I highly recommend watching it, especially if you have a decent enough HD tv.

Yeah, David Attenborough is great. The BBC version with him narrating is MUCH better than Sigourney Weaving. Attenborough sounds like he is there, while Sigourney just sounds like she's reading something.
