new guy, 1999 v6 5 speed here, I recently started hearing a clicking sort of noise under the hood. It begins once the rpms hit around 2000 and are audible up past it too. But at idle it’s quiet. I went under the hood with the car running and opened up the throttle body until i could hear the noise. It’s definitely internal and it sounds like it’s right under the head on the passenger side, i have not done any kind of test besides when I can hear it. It’s got about 160k on the motor so that’s another reason i’m assuming it’s a piston ring. Any suggestions would be great and i’ll try to get a video or something if it helps, thanks

Check the passenger side header for cracks. That issue is reported frequently.
