Your thread fails and the video has one of the most annoying voices on it. It does bring up a decent point though. I personally am a Christian. I believe there is power in prayer, but I understand what he's talking about. Another thing is, "God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose" and "God has a plan" statements are found in the Bible. So, if He has a plan, how can prayer change that? It can't. I've found this issue very hard to deal with. It's almost a contradiction.

Prayer is the only way to communicate to God and it makes people feel much better especially in intense or depressing situations (think 911). It unites us with God and the people around us. Miracles, however, do happen by the power of God and are usually attributed to prayer. Honestly, I'm not sure where I'm going with this anymore so I'm done typing.

So basically the point of this thread is to degrade people who believe in God. Good job loser.

If science is so correct, then tell me the ORIGIN of intelligence and free will.

You can post anything you want. It's just a matter of opinion and point of view. You have yours, I have mine, and they have theirs.

Everybody sees the world differently. So accept that people believe in things that you don't, and get over it.

If you believe in god you have no free will, everything is predestined.

    Psalm 139:16
your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
    were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

He wasn't arguing fate. You aren't trying to say everybody who believes in God must believe in fate, right?

No He questioning Free will, as in explain its origin, if you are religious you can't believe in Free will :)

    It goes against the bible.

You can't interpet a passage a certain way and apply it to everybody else. Free will is a cornerstone of many religions. Besides, religion is interpretive. Everybody will perceive it differently. I dont necessarily believe in fate, because it does contradict free will. That doesnt mean I don't believe in God. I just percieve my own existence differently than you, or somebody else might.

    You can't interpret:

God has a plan, god has planned your days, god is omnipotent.

While I don't believe in God, this point doesn't work.

When those verses in revelations were written, there was no Bible. Those verses only relate to the book of revelations and not the Bible.

    Thats a cop out....

So they want you to interpret the rest of the bible, but you can't do in revelations? :uhh:

    That makes sense to you?

The bible is the word of god. The book is written by man, god is omnipotent. God planned your life. To discredit anything in the bible is to discredit the word of god.

Varying degrees of intelligence have evolved independently many times over in the animal kingdom (dolphins, whales, chimpanzees and humans to name a few). It comes with larger brains (especially large brains in not so large bodies), which are not difficult to see evolving.

As for free will, it isn't even apparent if we have it. It is a philosophical problem as much as it is anything else. Your parameters are poorly defined and fit the typical absolute mindset of a religious personality. I can only assume that you mean free will in human beings, God's favored creation. It seems to come with larger brains and consciousness.

If you want real answers to your questions read in scientific literature. Read The Dragons of Eden by Carl Sagan to start with.

Don't be so foolish as to assume that if science has not presently answered something, that religion can or already has. Religion has never answered any of the questions you are posing. The answer that "God did it" satisfies only the inept. It is completely wrong to assume that a question can be filled in by a God or gods and filed away as being answered. No progress is ever made that way.

    Yes, books are great.

What amazes me those is how people bend the word of there god to fit there beliefs. Kind of funny.

"I can't explain why god lets 15,000,000 children suffer and die, it's gods plan"

"But I can explain what it means in the bible!"
