Can anyone tell me how to remove the rear seat out of the 2001 Mustang Convertible? I want to remove the side panels where the convertible top goes in and the speakers are. One of those panels is rattling and I want to find out where it is, Ford tried to find it one time in the process breaking a few of the clips on a plate near the seatbelt then NOT replacing it. They will not touch my car for that kind of stuff anymore. Please if anyone knows how to take those out please let me know.

I did it....its real fun.....but honestly, you're not going to remove the rattling, the whole car (atleast mine does) rattles a lot, and I'm used to it....however if you're really determined to remove it...I'll tell ya.

Have a great time... your car will be in pieces....I remember mine, the back seat was out, the two back side pieces that hold in the speakers are out, and only think that is there is nothing but metal and the compressor.

Its actually funny the only thing that holds in the rear speakers is a little round piece of metal nothing else, nothing amazingly rigid. Tell me if you get it to sound better...I doubt it though :)

I seen that site before but couldn't lift my seat up that far... and couldn't see any pins are you sure this is the way it is on the 2001? My seat would only lift about 1cm... and I couldn't see any pins let alone feel them... couldn't even get my hand under the seat it only lifted up a crack.

    Here you go:

The convertible has two speaker enclosures in the rear. One on each side of the rear seating compartment. Below are steps to removing the side panels to gain access to the enclosures.

Lift up the rear seat a bit in the front. This will expose two white pins in the middle on both sides that hold the rear seat in place.

Press them in and pull the seat up and out.

The back top portion of the rear seat has two bolt on the bottom and a hanger on top. remove the bolts and pull the top rear seat out.

The side panels are held in place by the Christmas tree pull pins, remove the pins and carefully remove each side panel.

The Speaker enclosures will now be visible.
