    Hi guys!
After an almost 8 year hiatus (with 2 GT's!), I'm almost done shopping for Pony number FIFTEEN!!
I'm a retired Ford Tech, trying to play catch up with tuning and other new tech, since the last time I really BUILT a Mustang...

I was reading a thread here about a 4.2 swap. That sounds like old school FUN!!

This was my last sixer, a '96, 5-speed with homemade duals, trying hard to be a Cobra! 94redmust1.jpg

I'm pretty much locked into a New Edge. Some silly reasons, like the double-DIN dash, and the Twin Port looks like a great starting point!

I'm biased toward new edge over the original sn95 probably because I have a 99 myself but wow that was a great looking car you had.

I also enjoy this body for its stereo setup and this engine as well. Still lots of good parts out there for it.

Thanks guys!! Six gun, I'm right there with you. I prefer the center console layout better on the NE.
I really loved that SN-95 though... My wife to be (in 2004), got pretty cranky when I brought home a $1700 car, and gave her a $2100 paint job!!! :taylor::fuuu: She got over it!

I bought her as a cheap commuter, but that little car, with barely 140hp, and a rare, decent T-5 was so much fun, i decided to pour some more $$$ into her.

She was far from my first 'Stang, but it was my first six!
Far from the fastest car on the road, she was just fun to drive.
Got some Eibach springs & swaybars, and with less weight hanging over the front wheels, I "felt" like it could handle mountain roads better than my GTs!!!

So, I want to try one again - this time, without the wheezing, but willing little motor....

I want my "new" one to be quick, but fully streetable, and gas mileage at least over 20!
From what I've been reading on here, THAT goal seems very doable!

BTW, when I said RARE and T-5...
I meant it was rare that it was smooth, quick shifting, and NEVER bent a shift fork!!
(In my experience, that made THAT T-5 - rare!!)

Only the 01-04 have the double DIN head units. The 00 and older are the same single set-up. Also the 00 and older have the useless cup holder arrangement, the 01-04's have actually useful ones.

Other differences are the 99-00 are split port without Intake Manifold Runner Control, but the 01-04's do have IMRC. The 04 is a 3.9L but its is pretty much identical to the 3.8L's from the 99-03's.

99-04 cars are where its at; look better, faster stock, better factory brakes up front.......

Thanks Jesse! 01-04 is EXACTLY what I've been looking for, for the same reasons you mentioned.
I'm planning on digging right in, starting with a 4.2! Don't know which way I'm doing it yet, either crank, Windsor rods, 4.2 pistons, and a mild cam.... OR, I may be able to score a cheap 00-up F-150 motor, and go from there!

    Time will tell. ;)

    Thanks audioAl
Yeah, I'm having fun with it too. I mentioned earlier that I have been kind of a carburetor guru....
They're fun to play with, but there's NO WAY I could ever get 250hp AND 20+ mpg with a carb!!!

So, yeah, I'm enjoying the "electronic toys" a LOT!!

Supersixmotorsports used to if not still does make a 4 barrel carb intake for the 3.8.

If I wanted to do that.... that could be fun....
I've almost MEMORIZED SSM's website! (I hope they do more)
The ported twin port heads and lower intake look really good!!

I know it's quality, but DAMN they're expensive!!!
