Would replacing the factory muffler with a (your performance muffler here) give it a volume increase? Is there much difference in having a y-pipe bolt on dual kit? I want volume, don't really plan on modding the car much at all for now. So would I be able to achieve a louder car without going to some sort of dual setup?

When you say, 'volume', do you mean deeper or louder?

Louder. I don't mean fart cannon sounding, just want to hear the exhaust more when driving around.

Yes, volume will be louder with a performance muffler since they are designed to flow more and not muffle as much as a stock muffler.

Yes, it will sound a lot louder. Here is a sound clip of my single exhaust from inside the car. I have the SpinTech single side-exit kit.

Oh, would having a Ypipe bolt up dual kit be any louder than just doing one muffler? Sorry for the dumbass questions, I know nothing about exhaust.

Depends on the mufflers. Are you just looking to be incredibly loud? You could always un-bolt the stock cat-back and run no muffler....

Not exactly wanting to be overly obnoxiously loud. I just want to be able to start my car, and hear a nice purr. As of now, with the stock muffler, it sounds okay if I am between 2 cars. But other than that, my engine is louder than my exhaust. I just want to hear the purrrrrrrrr from the exhaust.

A single tail pipe shouldn't sound much different (as far as exhaust volume) than a dual tail pipe Y-kit provided you're still using 1 muffler.

I have a single magnaflow dumped at the axle, and it sounds pretty damn good. A lot more bass, and just enough rumble to it. I wish it was a bit louder, but that can always be adjusted in the future.

That's why it's louder and deeper.

Thank you all for the help! I am sorry to have been so ignorant about exhaust. Going tomorrow to get something put on. Now all I have to do is pick a muffler. :uhh: I guess I will just spend the rest of the night listening to the mufflers in the exhaust opinion section. Again, THANK YOU guys for the help!
