I have a 1997 Mustang 3.8 Manual PCM and we are using a 1999 Mustang T-5 transmission. It has 3.73 rear end gears now, so we need to recalibrate the speedometer. We are planning to get one of those Bama Eliminator chips, can the speedometer be recalibrated through the tune or do I need to get one of those in-line speedometer recalibration boxes? Thank you.

I don't think you can do this with a tune. When I installed a 2000 T5 in my 1996, I had to get a recal box. I purchased it from Dallas Mustangs, and paid around a hundred bucks. They have a guy there that can assist with getting the settings dialed in.

you need a different gear in the trans. I forget which color for 3.73's, but that is what you will need.

Pre 99 Mustang T-5 transmissions use a gear on the tail shaft, and on the speed sensor. 99+ use a magnetic pickup system. Not sure if they are interchangeable.

Yeah, mine doesn't have gear on it just the magnetic pickup. That would be a lot easier if it did have one.
