Does anybodys trunklid lift on its own when unlocked ? Or are the lift supports just there to hold it up ?

It is just meant to hold the trunk at whatever place you put it, not to lift it on its own when you pop it.

i was taught that they were supposed to hold the decklid stationary at halfway through it's travel and hold it up if you push it any further. Something like that.
