I have Mustang 97, 3.8 L 6 cyclinder. what is causing the oil pressure gauge to fluctuate while idling at stop lights. I am changing oil, oil filter, sensor/switch for oil pressure gauge. There is no noise when car is running. the gauge operates fine, except for when idling. When I check the oil, the stick shows there is oil in engine. A mechanic said the oil pump needs to be changed and that the engine has to be taken out of the car to repair the oil pump? Is it true that the engine has to be taken out of the car to change the oil pump?
