I think any of you doubters need to pull your head out into the light...

We know the 4.0L is the same as in the Explorer and Ranger. We know it has more power and a flatter torque than the current 3.8L. We know the new Mustang weighs about the same as the current V6 car.

More power, more torque + same weight + better geared T-5 = better acceleration than current car which had a 7.1 0-60.

    Whats the problem?

Some people just refuse to do a bit of research before they come to a conclusion.

I wouldn't doubt pete at all, guys. Look at all the technical specs and it's clear that this V6 will be faster than the 99-04's. There's no doubt about it.

 It will be a welcome change indeed. Perhaps I will test drive a V6 version as well as the GT model. [IMG]

All that and it's one of the best looking cars ever made. Holy mother of God sometimes I wish I hadn't just bought a Lincoln. If only that new 'Stang had a back seat...

The GT has shown great potential by those that have tested them so far...

Stock 1/4 in the high 13s. Which isn't bad considering it gained weight. Modded with bolt-ons...mid-12s should not be a prob.

3300 some pounds jeez. Who do you think you guys are, F-bodies?
Hopefully these base V6s will offer nice power and aftermarkets to take down these top model 4-bangers even easier.

Anyone see RSX-S new commericial? The all new 210HP, you'll feel the extra power... something along those lines but I was blow away by its 210HP

So with those mods you believe the car could shave an entire second off of its time?

i have seen it posted eveywhere as 210 hp for the 6'ers...... as for the 8's, muscle mustangs and fast fords released an article and they ran 13.6 with the auto GT, the time wont be all that much faster with the MANUAL version because of the new 5-speed auto's..... im guessing 13.4 for auto.... what do you guys think? they are said to have much better throttle response as well, due to the DUAL THROTTLE BODIES on the V8 and the ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROLL on both models..... NO MORE THROTTLE CABLES! FINALLY!

well, you get much much better throttle response without the cable and its also just the fact that its higher quality (most cars that have this are in the M3 catagory) i have also had problems with my throttle cable, getting stuck and my car revving its self, very dangerous when i am in gear.... Has anyone noticed how the (either steeda or saleen) cant remember, has dual side exhaust.... that kinda strange since the muffler is now in the very back and there is no room whatsoever under the car to put mufflers.....do you guys think that they just go to the back bumper and just loop it back, that would kill power, adding another 4-5 feer of piping to the exhaust, what do you guys think?

Once you drive a car without a throttle cable, you will curse a blue streak about the lack of response and feel. Electric throttle is horrible - every bit as bad as electric steering.

I've got to agree with dutch here. You can't get much better "response" than a braided steel cable. Don't be fooled into thinking that more expensive = better.

The "response" you get from an electronic throttle is whatever response the computer wants to give you. No thanks. Electronic throttles are much more an emissions thing than any driver enthusiast thing.

Man, why don't people trust you Pete! I'm not gonna go over it again, because Nikko did such a good job. But have any of you doubters even driven the new stang????? I think once you drive one yourself you'll be more apt to believe pete.

I drove one the other day, and even the auto v6 seemed lightyears ahead of my 5 spd '03. I think the best comparison would be the difference between an auto 94-98 and a 5 spd 99-04. It really made a difference. My '03 has intake, exhaust, and UDP. But compared to a stock auto '05 it was slllllooooooowwwwwww.

Go drive one  I think they can get into high 14s :)
