If this is the case why would swapping a 4.0 in a pre 05 v6 be a bad thing???!

high 14's with a 05 Six, ummmmm hell yeah im all about it lol. I would love to have one, but I am going to have to much money invested into my 2000 by the time i get it streetable again, so the next stang i get will be a v-8. But I agree with pete, all these haters who doesnt even own a stang, **who really have no buisness on the board seeing as how this a 3.8 mustang board. not a dodge or chevy board** will keep running they jaws till their asses get handed to them by a o5 stang. So i cant wait to start hearing the stories about people seeing 05 stang tailights.

    AND PETE
dont listen to the haters, people who know use valvoline LOL. just kidding seriously I belive you and so do a lot of other people on this board. Those of us who are smart enough to realize when someone who knows what they are talking about is speaking.

Hey Pete.. been watching this thread for some time, and finally registered on the board. I've got one of the new stangs, and I love it... You mention that the 4.0L would hang with the GT's during pre-production and they had to tune them down.. interesting. BTW what does corking the exhaust mean?

Anyway, I have not had her on the track, and 95% of my mods have been for show and not go, but on several cold and humid mornings here in Northeast Florida, I have gotten 6.5 on several 0-60 runs with her. Only engine mods I have done is a K&N air filter and installed an 05 GT take-off muffler. And with all the horsing around, I still get 18 miles to the gallon on 87!

Am I understanding it correctly that the new 05 v6 manual transmission has different ratios in it than the 99-04's have?

All this talk is worthless until we start getting numerous people with timeslips and real world dyno numbers on these cars. I want to see what these cars run with an average driver that you, I or anyone else would run into on the street or at the track on friday night. What do they put down on the dyno at an average dynojet anywhere in the country?

Nope, they are not the same on the 05's. The 05 V6 muffler is slightly shorter in length. Both are about the same in diameter. The 05 V8/GT muffler has the chrome exhaust tip, the tip is several inches longer and larger in diameter than the V6's muffler. Originally, I bought a complete GT dual take-off exhaust system with 400 miles on it from BMR in Tampa. Long story short, the complete dual GT exhaust didn't quite work with my V6, so I ended up with only one of the mufflers.

Pete, how hard would it be to swap in an 05 v6 motor? Obviously you'd need a new trans and computer, would that be it?

A bone stock 05 Auto can run 15.2's all day long.

Not bad for an auto.

In that case it makes me wonder why you get 14.8's in a vert, which should be just about heavy as the 05, and you have comparable RWHP/TQ due to your bolt-ons. Think it's all in the SCT, with the shift points changed? If so, that makes me wonder what it'd do for an 05's 1/4mi...maybe I'm wrong though.
