I want to change the muffler on my wife's 05 v-6. She will not want it to LOUD. Any suggestions? The only performance mod is a C&L intake and SCT XCal 2.

flowmasters sell some pretty tamed out mufflers. go visit their website. if you want just the muffler, i think you will be okay with sound. my '00 v6 came with a flowmaster muffler.. stock midpipe, stock tailpipe.. just the muffler and i think it sounds okay. its not loud.. but its definitely better than stock. and its a flowmaster 40.

Flows are great.... for a V8. I just put magnaflow duals, and it is a very mellow but defenitely modded tone. I like it a lot, dont do MAC, I had the MAC axle-back and it is loud and it turned yellow:thumbdown:.

GT muffler, only cost 1 hp over no muffler at all. 10rwhp/7rwtq gain.

My brother has an 05 GT and I just picked up an 05 V6. He changed his mufflers out and gave me his takeoffs. Will the pass. side GT muffler bolt right up? Or does something have to be modded to get it to fit? Just curious, I haven't tried it yet. I am also saving a bit before paying a shop to fab up dual exhaust.

You need to cut the bumper, or put on a GT bumper.

My wife has the car right now, which side is our stock muffler on? Will the muffler for that side from the GT directly bolt in? Or do you have to cut the bumper either way?

The muffler is on the passenger side, and the GT muffler will bolt right up.

The GT take-off is a good, cheap option. That was one of my first mods, but later decided on going to duals.

Check out this thread... tons of exhaust clips...

btw... you can hear a clips of my old GT take-off there... both with stock and jba headers.
