Why'd they ditch the "powered by ford" cover on the new 4.6?

Just taking notice of pictures of new GT's via ebay auctions. I noticed that none of them have that cool "powered by ford" cover that went over the intake. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? It resembled the same piece that's found on the Ford GT. I swear i've seen pictures with it recently and was wondering why they ditched it?

I know, ford went cheap on the gt during production! I guess thats how they got it down to the MSRP.

What? They've been doing that for years and now they quit? My dad's '76 pickup has it on even.

It doesn't even have the running pony emblem on the intake. To me, it's not as attractive under the hood anymore. Yeah it's a v8 sitting between the strut towers, but there's no flare that proudly states that this is a GT mustang.

    Aftermarket? :)

By that same logic, you would say "who cares? it gets the job done" to people who do cosmetic mods. Why put a body kit on your mustang? Why clear corner headlight? Why clean it? It'll still get the job done regardless.

The answer is because it's cool. Having some sort of gimmick under the hood that flaunts what kind of power you have is cool. Of course it doesn't effect "getting the job done", it's just the cool factor

How much more redundant can you get than "powered by ford"? The entire premise is just plain stupid.

Now, if you've got a Ford 427 in a British AC roadster, "powered by ford" is an informative and useful piece of knowledge.

A ford engine in a ford car is not worthy of badging or attention. It's dumb - kind of like those "Powered by Honda" windshield banners on civics.

    No ****, econo-boy.

    2 problems with that:

    1) I need an 05GT for that
    2) Cardboard = :disgust:

Ok, then we can take off all of our Ford badges while we're at it due to redundancy.

Keep in mind, the cover also had the running pony emblem, which is why it was cool. The running pony emblem on the intake manifold makes the previous GT's engine look cool. To each his own though, it's obvious you don't care about it. Why does everyone jump on everything anyone says on this board? All I asked was why did Ford opt to omit this piece from the production vehicle, I didn't start this thread to defend why I think it's cool

"why" is a simple question. Cost.

It's a completely unnecessary cosmetic piece that isn't even visible under 99% of circumstances. Ford is in the car business to make money.

Cosmetic pieces by definition are unnecessary. It's all where you draw the line of necessity

Oh well I thought it was cool
