All I have going is the anti-virus software, MSN messenger and AOL IM. I have ME but I think it is basically the same. 26 is waaaay too many things to be running in your system's tray.

Yeah, clear some out. If you want a quick um....."performance mod" for your computer go to crucial.com and upgrade your ram. I think I got mine for like 20 dollars and it seriously doubled the speed in some applications. They also give you fedex 2 day air for free:D

That is what I was trying to imply. My g/f's roommate had like 20 things down there. No need in all that.

Put a check by your anti-virus software only.

lol sorry to keep you waiting paul.....my PM alert never came up for some reason and i dont check em often
anyways, the only stuff you need is this:
type32 (if you have a microsoft keyboard for the special buttons on it)
hpztsb04 - if you have an HP printer

generally, you dont need anythign at all checked in the startup in msconfig, however do a few at a time and make sure all your stuff still works...if something doesnt work, then reenable a few till you find the one that it was for

XP takes up aLOT of resources and 256 megs is bare minimum nowadays....512 is what id recommend...a 7200 rpm ata100 hard drive too. at LEAST a 650 mhz processor is what you should be using for XP

anything less than that stuff, you're asking for slow speeds w/ XP
