Zabransky on the cover of NCAA 07?

A great story from last year, but why would they put a 6th round pick on the cover? There are so many better options: Adrian Peterson, Calvin Johnson, Troy Smith and Brady Quinn to name a few. Bad choice in my opinion...

Boise State QB nabs NCAA cover
After magical performance, Fiesta Bowl MVP Jared Zabransky named cover athlete for 2008 edition of EA's collegiate football game.

With Heisman Trophy winner Troy Smith of Ohio State and golden boy Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn both graduating this year, it was almost a sure bet that one of the two would grace the cover of the next edition of NCAA Football from Electronic Arts.

Then the Fiesta Bowl happened. The Boise State Broncos beat the Oklahoma Sooners 43-42 in one of the most thrilling college bowl games in memory. Leading the charge was Broncos QB Jared Zabransky, who ended the game with a modified version of the infamous Statue of Liberty play.

EA has selected the rugged Zabransky as the cover athlete for NCAA Football 08, which was formally announced today. The EA Tiburon-developed game will be released this summer on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox, and Xbox 360.

Zabransky's knack for rallying his troops will be exhibited in the new leadership control feature in NCAA Football 08. Big plays made by big stars will now have an influence on other players, letting them step up their game by boosting their personal ratings. EA also promises a deeper recruiting system and an all-new campus legend mode

I love it, it does not matter where they go in the draft, that team, and him, were the cinderella story last year. Congrats I say :)

Not only that, but the game they gave us =

for sure, it was probably the best gave I've ever seen. That and the Iowa game from a couple years back... which is still known throughout the state as "The Catch". Just because you dominated the regular season doesn't mean you "deserve" the cover. I also say congrats.

I won't argue the "game", because it was the greatest game I have ever watched in my life. I just think from a marketing standpoint they could have made a better choice. But yes, congrats to him on getting picked...

Not really, anyone who watches college football knows that game.

Personally its refreshing to see him rather then somone who is going in the first round. I like that

Like I give a ****
No matter who is on the cover, there will always be someone else that could 'potentially' be on it as well. I'm actually pretty happy that it's not someone from the Pac 10, Big 10, SEC etc., etc.

@nwandler
So who do you guys think will be on it next year? I would say Brian Brohm or Steve Slaton could take the honor next year...

Fake edit: I can't believe I just chose two players from the Big East...

No way is he a 6th round pick. Id be very surprised if he got past the 3rd round.

 I hope you aren't serious. The only quarterbacks worth drafting on the first day are Russell, Quinn, Stanton, Smith and maybe Kolb and Edwards. Then you have Beck, Palmer and Rowe that all should/will be drafted before him...
